This blueberry Vodka recipe is so good and the main ingredient is from my very own blueberry bush. This recipe is from https://wearenotmartha.com/blueberry-vodka-lemonade/.   I did a little tweaking of my own, and the cocktail came out great! You can absolutely use blueberries from a market or fruit stand.  Also for my non-drinkers, there is a mocktail version.

I love all things blueberry and I’ve made everything from blueberry pancakes to my famous blueberry smoothies…..mmm, mmm good!  As I mentioned before blueberries have tons of benefits.  I was just as excited making this, as I was drinking it.  All that was missing is my beach umbrella, a waterfront, and not hearing my kids yelling for once…..lol.  Just so relaxing ahhhh, I can taste the yummy berries!  So without further ado, here goes my version of the blueberry vodka lemonade.

Most blueberry recipes usually start with a blueberry syrup base.  It is the basis of all things blueberry that makes the cocktails and recipes taste great!!  To make the syrup all you need is blueberries, sugar, and water.  Combine in a little saucepan and bring to boil.  After the mixture boils, I reduce the heat to simmer for 15 mins or until the mixture thickens.  Then pour the mixture into a strainer and make sure to mash as much of the juice as possible from the blueberries into a bowl.  Of course, I let the mixture in the bowl cool off completely.  I even put my syrup in the fridge to speed up the cooling process.  You want your syrup nice and cold before starting to make the drink.

Next is to prepare the lemon juice.  A little note about the lemons, the recipe calls for freshly squeezed lemons, but I used bottled lemon juice made from fresh lemons.  It tastes great to me but if you want to use fresh lemons by all means do so.  If using lemon juice from a bottle, you can adjust the water to measure how tart you want it.  I’m going to try the recipe next time with fresh lemons and see if it makes a difference.  The juice from one whole lemon should make at least 2 cocktails which would yield 4 oz of lemon juice, so only 2 oz is needed per drink.

You can also buy blueberry simple syrup from the store to make the recipe much faster.

The blueberry drink recipe that I’m gonna share with you makes one cocktail but you can make at least 6 cocktails with the blueberry syrup batch.

I loved the taste of this cocktail overall, and even my husband who prefers beer loved it too.  I always thought men preferred beer, or a shot of their choice rather than a mixed drink.  But my husband enjoyed this summertime cocktail as much as I did.
